What to Focus On at 12U
Advanced situations
Slap defense, first-and-third, bunt coverage, and short-game reads. Run each as a station so reps are high, then test them in a controlled scrimmage.
Position specialization
Players can start owning one or two positions. Build in dedicated infield, outfield, and battery work rather than rotating everyone through everything.
Game-speed hitting and conditioning
Live batting practice with situations (runner on second, less than two outs) plus short conditioning builds the competitiveness 12U players are ready for.
