Free Practice Plans for Youth Baseball and Softball
A good practice plan is the difference between an hour of organized, high-rep development and an hour of standing around. Our free library gives youth baseball and softball coaches ready-to-run practice plans for every age group, from tee ball through high school, so you can walk onto the field with a clear plan instead of making it up as you go.
Every plan is built around the same proven structure: a dynamic warm-up, a fundamentals block for throwing, fielding, and hitting, a team or situational segment, and a short scrimmage to finish. Each block has a set time so the practice stays on schedule and every player keeps moving. Pick the baseball practice plans or softball practice plans that match your age group and field time, print the PDF, and you are ready to coach.
Choosing the Right Practice Plan by Age
Younger teams need short, high-energy practices with frequent transitions, while older players can handle longer drill sequences and situational work. As a rule of thumb, plan 45 to 60 minutes for tee ball, 75 to 90 minutes for ages 6 to 8, 90 to 120 minutes for ages 9 to 12, and up to 2.5 hours for teen teams. Match the plan length to the field time you actually have, and lean on station-based formats whenever you have enough coaches to run several drills at once.
