Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a baseball scorebook and a scorecard?
A scorebook is a bound book with many pages — typically one scorecard per game plus season summary pages at the back. A scorecard is a single page for a single game. If you score every game of the season, a physical scorebook keeps everything in one place. If you score occasionally or just want to learn, printed scorecards do the same job without the cost.
Should I buy a physical baseball scorebook or print my own?
Depends on how often you keep score. If you are the official team scorekeeper for every game, a physical book (Rawlings, Wilson, or similar) is worth the $15-$30 — you get everything bound, carbon paper copies, and season summary pages. If you score a few games a season or are still learning, printing individual scorecards is free and produces the same notation.
How do I assemble a DIY baseball scorebook from these PDFs?
Print 20-30 copies of the 7-inning scorecard on 20 lb paper or cardstock. Three-hole punch the stack and place in a small binder. Add a cover sheet with team name and season. Add lineup cards and a roster sheet at the front. That gives you a complete season scorebook for under $5.
What pages should a baseball scorebook include?
A complete scorebook has: team roster with uniform numbers, season schedule, one scorecard per game (typically 20-25 pages for a full season), pitching log by player, season batting stats summary (accumulated manually), and a notes section for strategy and scouting notes. We provide scorecards and pitch trackers; you add the roster and summary pages.
What is the best paper weight for a printable scorebook?
For single-game use, 20 lb copy paper is fine. For a season scorebook that gets flipped through every game, 32 lb paper or lightweight cardstock lasts longer. If you will carry the scorebook outdoors in damp conditions, consider page protectors or laminated sheets.
Can I sell a scorebook I make from these templates?
The PDFs are free for personal, team, and league use. Use them for your own scorebook, print copies for your league, hand them out to parents. Commercial resale is not permitted — if you want to sell scorebooks, contact us for licensing.
How long does it take to fill out a full scorebook for a season?
Expect 30-45 minutes per game of active scorekeeping during the game, plus another 10-15 minutes after to tally stats and update the season summary. For a 20-game season, budget about 15-20 hours total. Digital scorekeepers cut the post-game math to zero.
