Throwing Drill: Throwing Seeds (Baseball & Softball)
Outfield drill practicing long throws to home plate. Players field batted balls and throw to a target, simulating cutting down runners.
How to Run This Drill
- Place a trash can on its side at home plate with the opening facing the field.
- Line your team up in the outfield. Stand 50 feet away with a bat and a bucket of balls.
- The first player in line gets in ready position in the outfield with their legs moving and knees bent.
- Once you hit a ball to them, they have to field it before trying to throw it towards home and into the can.
- After throwing, they return to the end of the line and the next fielder is up.
- Play a few rounds making sure to hit grounders and fly balls so your team gets experience fielding both. Whoever gets the ball into the trash the most times wins.
