Infield Drill: Lazy Catch (Softball)
Players learn to read and field grounders while on their knees, focusing on glove positioning and proper technique without running.

How to Run This Drill
- Divide team into groups of five
- Coach stands 15 feet away with a ball
- All five players get down on both knees (not resting on heels)
- Players place fingertips of gloves on the ground
- Coach rolls grounders to each player one at a time
- Players field and throw back without standing up
- Work down the line, then roll backhanded grounders on the way back
Coaching Points
- Use both hands - close glove like an alligator
- On backhands, scoop the ball properly
- Award points for clean fields to make it competitive
- Can do the same drill for popups
