Catchers practice quick glove-to-hand transfers by tossing the ball to themselves and immediately getting to throwing position. Can be done at home or outside against any wall.

How to Run This Drill

  1. Hold ball in throwing hand
  2. Toss ball against wall and catch with glove
  3. Immediately transfer to throwing hand
  4. Get to throwing position
  5. Reset and repeat
  6. Focus on smooth, quick transfers

Coaching Points

  • Emphasize successful transfers on every rep
  • Then as a secondary focus, emphasize speed
  • Great drill for homework (50 self-toss transfers a day)
