Catching Drill: Rapid Feet (Baseball & Softball)
A catcher transfer and footwork drill down a line of baseballs. At each ball the catcher drops into the crouch, fakes the catch and pops up into a throwing position, over and over.

How to Run This Drill
- Set five baseballs in a line, about two feet apart
- Get beside the first ball in your regular crouch, throwing hand behind the glove as if a runner is stealing second
- Act like you catch the pitch and pop up into a throwing position
- Move to the next ball, drop back into the crouch and pop up again
- Repeat down the whole line of balls, then turn around and come back
Coaching Points
- Feet finish square to the target, not open or closed
- Keep flex in the knees and stay low; do not stand straight up
- The quicker the move from crouch to throwing position, the better the chance of throwing the runner out
