Throwing Drill: Beat the Ball (Baseball & Softball)
Race between a runner circling the bases and fielders throwing the ball around the horn. Can the ball beat the runner home?
How to Run This Drill
- Position fielders at each base: first, second, third, and home plate (catcher).
- Runner starts at home plate in a batting stance.
- On the signal, the runner takes off running around the bases.
- At the same time, the catcher throws to first, first throws to second, second throws to third, third throws home.
- The ball must beat the runner back to home plate for the defense to win.
- Rotate runners and fielders. Keep track of wins for each side.
