Team Defense Drill: 21 Outs Game (Baseball & Softball)
Team defensive challenge to record 21 consecutive outs without an error. Any mistake resets the count to zero. Builds focus and accountability.

How to Run This Drill
- Set up the defense at all positions. Coach or fungo hitter stands at home plate with a bucket of balls.
- Coach puts a ball in play to any defensive position. Fielders must make the proper play and record an out.
- Each clean play counts as one out. Keep a running total that the whole team can hear.
- If any player makes an error - physical or mental - the count resets to zero. This includes dropped balls, bad throws, and missed assignments.
- Continue until the team successfully records 21 consecutive clean outs.
- Add variations: set a time limit, compete between groups, or offer a reward when the team reaches 21.
Coaching Points
- Focus every pitch - treat each rep like a game situation
- Communication is key - call for balls early and often
- Know where the next play goes before the ball is hit
- Keep energy and chatter up throughout
- Back each other up on every play
- If someone makes an error, immediately refocus - next pitch mentality
