How to Run This Drill
- Set up a first baseman at first base. Other players line up on their knees at third base.
- Each player takes a turn throwing from their knees to first base.
- Emphasize using the whole body even from the kneeling position - rotate the hips and follow through.
- Challenge players to reach first base on the fly. Many will struggle at first.
- After everyone has thrown from their knees, let them stand and throw to feel the difference.
- This drill demonstrates how much the legs contribute to throwing power and accuracy.
