Warmup Drill: Youth Baseball Practice Warm-Up Routine (Baseball & Softball)
Complete youth practice warm-up with player-led exercises and throwing progression. Kids take turns leading, then progress through wrist flips and quality throws.

How to Run This Drill
- Gather all players in a circle for group warm-up exercises.
- Have players take turns leading exercises - one player jumps into the middle, picks an exercise (like jumping jacks or arm circles), and everyone counts and does them together.
- Continue until several players have had a chance to lead an exercise. This builds engagement and leadership.
- Transition to throwing warm-up: pair up players close together (about 10-15 feet apart).
- Start with wrist flips - players keep "cement feet" (feet stay planted) and focus only on forearm and wrist action to warm up the arm.
- Gradually increase distance, bringing in footwork as players back up. Focus on quality throws with good mechanics.
- Keep throws controlled - this is not long toss yet. Players should take their time making good quality throws rather than rifling it to their teammate.
- After throwing warm-up is complete, gather the team together to discuss what you will work on at practice that day.
- Break into practice stations.
