How to Run This Drill
- Catcher in full gear in receiving position
- Coach or player throws balls in the dirt
- Catcher blocks the ball properly
- Immediately pick up ball and get to throwing position
- Focus on speed of recovery
- Repeat with throws at different angles
Coaching Points
- Block first, then recover
- Keep the ball in front of you
- Quick hands to throwing position
- Popping up to feet > popping up to knees
