Warmup Drill: Pre-Game Baseball Warm-Up (Baseball)

A complete pre-game movement warmup routine designed to prepare players physically and mentally for competition.

Instructions

Begin with light jogging to transition from rest to activity. Progress through dynamic stretching sequence hitting all major muscle groups. Include sport-specific movements like lateral shuffles, backpedals, and sprint mechanics. Move to throwing progression with partners, starting at short distance. Gradually increase throwing distance while maintaining proper mechanics. Add position-specific movements as appropriate. Include light fielding and batting movements to activate muscle memory. Finish with mental preparation and team focus. Players should feel loose, confident, and ready to compete.

  • Create an energetic, focused atmosphere - set the competitive tone
  • Every player should break a light sweat
  • Monitor throwing progression - arm warmup cannot be rushed
  • Position players and pitchers may split for specific needs
  • Use this time to focus mentally on game plan
  • Watch for signs anyone is not properly warmed up
