Hitting Drill: Power V Drill (Baseball & Softball)
Stop-at-contact tee drill that teaches hitters to extend through the ball. Catches over-rotation and pulling off in real time by freezing the swing at the moment of contact.

How to Run This Drill
- Set up a tee at normal hitting height
- Take a normal swing and stop the bat the moment after contact
- Hold the freeze for 1-2 seconds — both arms together should form a V pointing toward the pitcher
- Check direction: backspin straight up the middle means you stayed through; pulling the ball means you rolled off
- Hit 8-10 reps on the tee with the freeze
- Progress to front toss with the same freeze
- Final progression: live BP, freezing after each contact
Coaching Points
- The V pointing up the middle confirms a true through-the-ball swing
- Catches over-rotation in real time — the coach calls it 'the lie detector'
- Don't let the swing finish like a Nike check mark — extend all the way through
- Backspin to center is the goal, not pull-side contact
