Bunting Bonanza - Baseball Drill Video

How to Run This Drill

  1. Send fielders to each defensive position
  2. Set up runner on first, hitter at plate, rest on deck
  3. Coach pitches from in front of mound
  4. Set up four cones as gates for bunt targets
  5. Hitters are only allowed to bunt
  6. Fielders must execute proper rotation (2B and SS cover first/third)
  7. Offense: 1 point for advancing runner, 2 points if batter safe at first
  8. Defense: 1 point for out at first, 3 points for double play

Coaching Points

  • Fielders: slow down and focus on making right decision
  • Hitters: still choose your pitches wisely
  • A bunt is still a swing - pitch selection matters
