Baserunning Drill: Base Running Circuit (Baseball & Softball)
Complete baserunning warm-up covering home-to-first, first-to-third, and scoring from second. Great conditioning while teaching proper technique.
How to Run This Drill
- Players line up at home plate. This drill covers all the main baserunning scenarios in sequence.
- First sequence: Run from home to first, all the way through the bag at full speed. After passing first, shuffle off and look back at the infield. Take a crossover step and run from first to third. Jog home.
- Second sequence: From home, run out a double. Hit the inside of first base and push toward second. After reaching second, simulate scoring on a base hit to the outfield.
- Third sequence (optional): Run out a triple or inside-the-park home run for conditioning.
- Emphasize proper turns at each base - step on the INSIDE of the base and use it like a starting block to push off toward the next base.
- Can start with a slow jog following the leader around the bases before doing the full-speed version.
