Pitching Drill: Balance Drill (Baseball & Softball)
Teaches pitchers to find their balance point and gather energy before exploding toward home plate. The 3-count pause builds leg strength and body control.

How to Run This Drill
- Pitcher throws from a mound to a catcher at a shortened distance. Work from the stretch position.
- Start the motion by lifting the leg. At the balance point, PAUSE for a full 3-count: one-one-thousand, two-one-thousand, three-one-thousand.
- During the pause, check balance position: upper and lower body together, leg slightly closed with butt cheek pointing toward catcher, glove slightly above knee.
- The upper body should NOT be leaning back - stay tall and balanced over the back leg.
- On the count of 3, stride forward and release the ball.
- This drill forces pitchers to gather energy at the balance point so the body and arm come forward together toward home plate.
