Infield Drill: Backhand Pick & Stick Fungo (Baseball & Softball)
Catcher blocking drill focusing on backhand technique for balls in the dirt. Learn to redirect the ball down and recover quickly.

How to Run This Drill
- Coach positions about 15 feet in front of the catcher and throws balls into the dirt to the left and right sides.
- Catcher reads the ball off the throw and moves laterally to get in front of it.
- Use backhand technique to redirect the ball down into the dirt - dont try to catch it cleanly.
- Keep chest over the ball with chin tucked. The body creates a wall that keeps the ball in front.
