Rich Text Coach Notes for Game Plans and Post-Game Reviews

Write pre-game plans and post-game notes with bold, italic, bullet lists, and colored text. Your notes are saved with each game and formatted for easy reading.

Notes in the Lineup Generator and game forms now support rich text formatting. When you open the notes editor in the lineup generator or on any game page, you will see a formatting toolbar with options for bold, italic, bullet lists, numbered lists, and colored text. Your formatted notes are saved with each game and display with full styling on the game detail page and in shared links.

Better notes make better coaches

Before every game, good coaches have a plan. After every game, good coaches reflect on what happened. The problem is that most note-taking in coaching apps is plain text: a wall of words with no structure, no emphasis, and no formatting.

Dugout Edge now supports rich text notes in the Lineup Generator and game forms. You can use bold, italic, bullet lists, numbered lists, and colored text to organize your thoughts the way they actually exist in your head.

Pre-game planning

Use rich text notes to write a structured pre-game plan:

  • Bold the key focus areas for this game
  • Create a bulleted list of reminders for your assistant coaches
  • Use colored text to highlight critical situational plays
  • Add numbered steps for your pitching rotation plan

When you arrive at the field, pull up your game page on your phone and everything is right there, formatted and easy to scan.

Post-game notes

After the game, capture what happened while it is fresh:

  • What went well and what needs work
  • Individual player observations
  • Adjustments to make for the next game
  • Notes on the opposing team for future matchups

These notes are saved with the game and visible on the game detail page. At the end of the season, you have a complete journal of every game.

Why formatting matters

Plain text notes are hard to scan. When you are standing in the dugout five minutes before first pitch, you need to find the important stuff fast. Bold text, bullet points, and color coding let you organize information so it is useful in the moment, not just when you are sitting at home typing it.

How it works

The rich text editor appears anywhere you write notes in Dugout Edge. Use the toolbar to format your text, or use keyboard shortcuts if you prefer. Your formatted notes are saved automatically and render with full styling on the game detail page and in shared links.
