Player of the Game Tracking for Youth Baseball and Softball
Select a Player of the Game after every game and track it across the entire season. Make sure every kid on the team gets recognized.
You can now select a Player of the Game after every game. Go to any game in your schedule, scroll down to the Post-Game Summary card at the bottom, and you will see a Player of the Game dropdown with a trophy icon. Select a player, and the choice is saved and tracked across the entire season so you can make sure every kid gets recognized.
Every kid deserves their moment
In youth baseball and softball, winning is not the only thing that matters. Development, effort, and sportsmanship matter just as much. The Player of the Game feature gives coaches a simple way to recognize one player after each game and track those selections across the full season.
How it works
- Open any game in your Dugout Edge schedule
- Scroll down to the Post-Game Summary card at the bottom of the page
- Find the Player of the Game dropdown (it has a trophy icon)
- Select a player from the list
- The selection is saved and visible on the game detail page
Why youth coaches need this
Without tracking, it is easy to unintentionally give the same kids recognition every week. The star pitcher gets Player of the Game three times while the kid who made a great catch in right field never hears their name. Tracking it keeps you honest and helps you spread recognition across the roster.
What counts as Player of the Game
That is entirely up to you as the coach. Some ideas:
- A player who had a great at-bat, even if they did not get a hit
- A player who made a hustle play on defense
- A player who encouraged their teammates from the dugout
- A player who showed improvement on something you practiced that week
- A player who handled a tough moment with good sportsmanship
The point is not to reward the best player. It is to recognize effort, growth, and character.
Season-long tracking
At the end of the season, you can look back and see every Player of the Game selection. This is useful for:
- End-of-season awards and recognition
- Making sure every player was recognized at least once
- Conversations with parents about their child's contributions
- Your own reflection on how the season went
Part of the Dugout Edge game management flow
Player of the Game fits into your existing game workflow. You are already opening the game page to check your lineup. After the game, add the Player of the Game selection and any post-game notes. Everything is saved in one place.
