Auto-Shift Practice Timeline When Start Time Changes
Change your practice start time and every drill, station, and break in your plan shifts automatically. No more manually adjusting each block.
Changing your practice start time now shifts every block in your plan automatically. In the Practice Planner Setup step, you will see the Start Time field with quick-select buttons for common times (4:00 PM, 5:00 PM, 5:30 PM, etc.). Change the start time and every drill, station rotation, and break shifts forward or backward instantly. All time labels update to reflect the new schedule.
Field time changes. Your plan should too.
If you have coached youth baseball or softball for any length of time, you know the drill: you build a perfect practice plan for 5:30 PM, and then the league moves your field time to 6:00 PM. Now you have to manually adjust every time block in your plan.
Not anymore. When you change the practice start time in the Dugout Edge Practice Planner, every block in your plan shifts automatically. The spacing stays the same, the order stays the same, and all the time labels update instantly.
How it works
- Open the Practice Planner and go to the Setup step
- Find the Start Time field (with quick-select buttons below it)
- Change the time by typing a new time or tapping a quick-select button
- Every drill block, station rotation, and break shifts automatically
- The calculated end time updates to show when practice will finish
Common scenarios
- Shared fields: the team before you runs late, so you push your start back 15 minutes
- Weather delays: rain clears at 5:45 instead of 5:30, shift everything forward
- Shortened practice: change the start time later and your plan adjusts without cutting drills
- Planning ahead: build one master practice template and adjust the start time for each day
Part of the Practice Planner
This feature is built into the Dugout Edge Practice Planner, which helps coaches build structured, time-managed practice plans in about 2 minutes. The planner pulls from a curated library of age-appropriate drills and handles all the timing, station rotations, and player assignments for you.
