Unfortunately, our experience with this softball association was deeply disappointing this past year. The tryout and selection process lacked transparency and professionalism, and it became clear that board involvement creates an uneven playing field. Decisions did not appear to be based solely on skill, performance, or merit. When leadership roles overlap with having children in the program, it raises serious concerns about fairness and conflicts of interest—concerns that were not addressed or acknowledged. Families invest significant time, money, and trust into youth sports organizations. We expected an environment that prioritizes athlete development and integrity. Sadly, that was not our experience this past year, and I would strongly encourage other families to ask hard questions before committing here. If you are looking for an organization where evaluations are objective and free from internal politics, you may want to explore other options within the area.

My niece played in a tournament at Palmetto Leaves this past weekend, and honestly, I was blown away. It's rare to find a ballpark experience that checks all the boxes, but Palmetto Leaves definitely delivered. First and foremost, the fields were in immaculate condition. You could tell they take real pride in maintaining the grounds, which made a huge difference in the players' experience. But it wasn't just the fields - even the bathrooms were pristine! That's practically unheard of at a ballpark, so major kudos for that. Beyond the facilities, the concessions were a genuine highlight. I actually had one of the best hamburgers I've had in a long time – definitely not your typical ballpark fare. But the real star of the show, in my opinion, was the staff. I had the chance to meet Justin, the director for the high school division girls softball for the Mandarin Sports Association. He was incredibly passionate about what he does and clearly dedicated to bringing a high-quality softball experience to the community. It's clear he cares deeply about the program, and that dedication shines through.

Overall great association. I played here as a child and now my son has played here for the last 5 years (both baseball and flag football). My son currently plays 12U and has had the same coach for the last several seasons. Coach Daniel and his assistant coaches are wonderful. My son is extremely sensitive and it's refreshing to have a coach that uplifts the kids rather than yell at them the entire game. We've also met some amazing people here which is an added bonus.
