What we have built, and what is next

Dugout Edge is built by one person, in the open. Here is everything that is live today and everything planned, laid out by season instead of by calendar date, because that is how coaches plan.

Planned, by season

Seasons rather than dates, because a coach does not need to know whether something arrives in October. He needs to know whether it is ready before his season starts.

  • Pitcher availability and rest rules

    Pitch counts across weeks and months, not just one game. Set your league rest rules once and the lineup generator flags who is not eligible to pitch yet.

  • Practice Day Companion

    Building now

    Run the practice you planned from your phone at the field, station by station, with a timer and attendance.

  • Chalkboard

    Building now

    A ground-up rebuild of the play designer. Diagram any situation, animate every runner, and turn a play into a quiz.

  • Tryout and evaluation tool

    Next upTarget: December

    Run evaluations, score players against the skills you care about, then balance teams from the results. Ready before spring tryouts.

  • Wristband signs generator

    Next upTarget: December

    Call pitches and plays off a numbered wristband, with a new grid every inning so they cannot be stolen.

  • Mobile and iPad app

    Next upTarget: January to February

    Dugout Edge on the App Store and Google Play. It all works in a phone browser today, but this puts it on the home screen, which matters when you are running a game one handed.

Everything above is meant to be finished before the spring season starts in March.

Targets, not guarantees. One person is building this, and I would rather tell you the plan than pretend there is a team behind it.

Wanted, not scheduled

Asked for often enough to be on my mind, with no season attached yet. Votes on the feature board are what move these up.

Multi-coach access

Invite your assistants to your team with their own logins instead of sharing one.

GameChanger import

GameChanger has no public API, so this would have to run off their CSV export. Wanted, but honestly not close.

League admin tools

Scheduling around your fields and blackout dates, brackets, and getting it out to your coaches.

AI assistant coach

Ask it the way you would ask another coach, and get drills from the library and a plan you can run.
