Hitting Drill: The Grass Game (Baseball & Softball)
Competitive hitting elimination game where players get one swing to hit the ball into the grass or they are eliminated. Last player standing wins this exciting batting challenge.
Instructions
Set up home plate with coach pitching from close distance. Each player gets one swing to hit the ball into the grass (fair territory). If ball does not land in grass or is missed, player is eliminated. Continue until only one player remains as the winner.
Coaching Points
- Coach should pitch strikes consistently
- Emphasize making contact over power
- Keep eliminated players engaged as cheerleaders
- Celebrate good swings even if eliminated
- Adjust pitching distance based on age group
- Consider multiple rounds for more participation
