Hitting Drill: The Grass Game (Baseball & Softball)

Elimination hitting game where players must hit the ball into fair territory grass on one swing. Miss or foul and you are out.

How to Run This Drill

  1. Set up home plate with the coach pitching from a short distance.
  2. Each player comes to the plate and gets exactly one swing.
  3. The batter must hit the ball into fair territory grass to stay alive.
  4. If the ball does not land in grass (foul, miss, or caught), the player is eliminated.
  5. Continue rounds until only one player remains as the winner.
  6. Great game for practicing contact and putting the ball in play.

  • Dont try to hit home runs - just hit the grass
