Baserunning Drill: Rock Paper Scissors Base Running (Baseball & Softball)
A no-equipment baserunning and conditioning game for younger players. Players at each base play rock paper scissors, and the winner runs to the next base.

How to Run This Drill
- Split the team into a group at each of the four bases
- Each player picks someone at their base and plays one game of rock paper scissors; ties play again
- The winner runs to the next base; the loser stays and finds a new opponent at that base
- Keep playing so players work their way around the bases
- Optional: score a point for every base reached and see who has the most at the end
- To keep everyone running, have the loser run back to the previous base for no point
Coaching Points
- Best for 10 and under; older players tend to find it too young
- No gloves or balls needed, just the bases
- A fun conditioning finisher for the end of practice
- With a small team, watch for a player stranded alone at a base
