Infield Drill: Goalie Drill Game (Baseball & Softball)
Fun fielding game where hitters protect a goal behind them with their glove and any means necessary.
How to Run This Drill
- Set up a hockey or lacrosse goal as a backstop behind the player who's turn it is.
- Throw, hit or use a pitching machine to get balls past the player and into the goal.
- The fielding player ideally tries to catch the ball, but more importantly does what they can to keep the ball in front.
- Two points for catching with the glove and one point for stopping from going into the net.
- Play knockout style or keep track of who scores the most points.
Coaching Points
- Use soft balls to keep the drill safe and fun
- Encourage fielders to move their feet and get in front of ball
- Rapid fire makes players use athleticism and build reaction time
- Keep score to add a competitive element
- Great drill for developing quick feet and steady glove
