Hitting Drill: 7 Ball Front Toss (Baseball & Softball)
Front toss drill using numbered zones (1-7) to develop plate coverage and understanding of pitch locations, building strike zone awareness.

How to Run This Drill
- Screen set up 18-20 feet from the plate
- Hitter sets up even with the plate
- Partner sets up 7 baseballs in front of home plate numbering them 1-7
- Partner stands behind the screen flipping baseballs through all 7 zones
- After each swing the hitter calls out what zone the pitch went through
- Objective is for the hitter to have a complete understanding of what zones they are swinging at
- Focus is on hitting the ball where the zone dictates
- Ideal drill for anyone that wants to have a better understanding of plate discipline and contact points
- Partners switch after 10 swings
Coaching Points
- Call out the zone number after each swing
- The goal is to get players to understand the strike zone and build awareness of where they stand in the box
- Inside pitches get pulled, outside goes opposite field
