Dinger

Dinger is popular slang for a home run. When a batter hits a dinger, they've launched the ball over the outfield fence (or in rare cases, hit an inside-the-park home run).

Why "Dinger"?

The term likely comes from the satisfying "ding" sound when a bat connects solidly with a baseball. A perfectly hit ball creates a distinctive ring that every player and fan recognizes.
