Athletic Field Park is a large park with a great playground and small water spray feature (among other amenities). The playground is situated on the south side of the park near the field house and includes a very small structure for younger children and a much larger structure for older children. There is also a small water spray feature near the playground. The play area is fully enclosed and the play surface is soft rubber. There are benches in the play area and a few picnic tables nearby as well and although there are trees and a small pavilion in the area, the playground itself is bright and sunny.

Great neighborhood park that doesn't seem to get to over crowded. The playground has is good for children of all ages and as a bonus they have a sprinkler section for those hot days. The fields have just been redone so maintenance on the park seems to be kept up really well. The down side here like most city parks are that the Basketball rims have been removed but the court remains. Just seems so useless to have that wasted space and negative thinking that takes a kids chance at playing a sport away from them. Added bonus for you Pokemon Go fans, the park has 3 stops that are close to each other so while you or your kids play you get set your lures and watch them spawn!

Fantastic little park, they pack a ton of amenities into a small space. The playground is newer, with a soft surface. The tennis courts are well maintained. The ceramics studio is a rare treasure. The namesake athletic fields are perhaps the least interesting feature of this park, although there is a new sport being practiced there - its like a cross between hackeysack and handball, played with a trampoline. Love the field house too. Just an all time classic, and I've always had good experiences with the staff.

The gem here should be the ceramics studio. Unfortunately, it is not appreciated by the Park District. They don’t keep it up or fund it. Money had been given by a state grant for a new kiln, yet we got a cheaper kiln. Where did the money go? And why isn’t the kiln being used to its full potential of cone 10 like it used to be? Money and politics! There never seems to be money for clay for students, but we paid for the class. We used to get unlimited clay. Why? Money and politics! It used to be a great group of people. The wonderful park manager would see that everyone got a spot in a class. Now there is competition to get in a class because someone changed that too.
