If you are interested in joining the board to guide your daughter's position and team, then join, otherwise you'll always be second to their kid. Bad coaching goes without reprimand as long as the kids of the board members are happy with where their kid is placed. We used to be very happy at PGSL and felt like we were making a positive impact on our community however a couple of bad nuts can ruin it for everyone. We tried to advocate for fairness and adhering to the bylaws, but no luck. PGSL has a bad rep in the county for cockyness and nepotism. If you're happy here, my best wishes to you. If you are looking to join purely for fun, rec season is fine. If you're looking to join and your daughter is competitive, look elsewhere. If you're interested in details, you can keep reading. If not, then kindly move on. Our daughter has a learning disability and came home crying constantly from a head coach yelling at her and she didn't understand why. She was told to practice in the catcher position with no proper gear and to use only a batting helmet. A couple of years, the evaluations for all stars were purely made on friendship, favoritism, and nepotism (from the mouth of the president, and he did nothing about it). She was unable to play at one point for an injury and the coach told us at the last game when she was able to play, that she wouldn't because she hadn't been a part of the team even though she still had attended all of the practices and games, had well documented doctor's notes, and was still en eligible player according to the usa softball bylaws and pgsl bylaws. At some point, someone decided that all stars was going to turn into the best of the grade level instead of the best of the devision, but kids were still placed outside of their grade so it should have been named, the coach's favorites because the teams weren't selected based on talent, based on grade or even based on division. The past president's daughter played up an entire division, against their own bylaws. Pgsl is a place where the rules don't apply to anyone and people in a position of authority or power only care about themselves and their daughter. We had to learn the hard way, wish we hadn't wasted so much of our time advocating for change.
