Our 10u gold all stars played against EGSL EXTREME for their home “39th Annual Freedom Tournament” today. Before our game started we had someone from Escondido in our stands trying to steal and record our pitching signs. Once the game started, EGSL EXTREME was caught using an electronic listening device to give pitch signs to their pitcher. When pointed out to the ump, their manager lied and told the ump that it was OK and was cleared by the board all ready. Jeff Johnson the “tournament director” was notified. He said he was approached by the manager yesterday and told him he did not know if it was allowed when asked if it was ok to use the device. The manager turned that answer into a “yes, it was cleared by the board.” The manager lied to the ump and continued to use the device. Some time went by before Jeff Johnson was brought over because he was busy dealing with another incident involving 3 police cruisers. Jeff Johnson was finally brought over to speak with the Manager and after being caught in a lie, Jeff then said the device is not allowed and they stopped using it. The rules state under letter F. If, after a warning by the umpire, any rules of the game are willfully violated, in SECTION 4 - FORFEITED GAMES. By rule, the game is supposed to be forfeited by EGSL EXTREME. The tournament director, Jeff Johnson, instead decided to make new rules and instead of stopping the game per the rules, allowed the game to play out and gave our team the 1st place rings but allowed his “home team” to keep the win. This was a violation of the rules by the team, the tournament director, Jeff Johnson, who is also a member of the board, and horrible way to teach both teams about cheating. Jeff never handled his responsibility of calling the game and rather tried to put it on the ump to take care of multiple times. He is showing our kids that if someone is going to cheat, just let it happen. He is also showing EGSL EXTREME kids that it is OK to cheat and lie. The rules clearly state this is a forefit. If this is the type of leadership you want to play under have at it. Leadership comes from the top down, with no integrity from the tournament director Jeff Johnson, it clearly shows where the managers and kids get it from. Don’t waste you time in this league, there are 3 other close by leagues that play fair and teach young girls the right way to do things. Shame on you Jeff Johnson. You should resign your position on the board, you clearly are not qualified to do this job and make hard decisions!

I played here from 7 to 14, and loved every second of it. The coaching staff and players were amazing, and were almost family to me. I'll miss you guys.
