Pitching Drill: Comebacker Drill (Baseball & Softball)
Teaches pitchers to follow through in fielding position and make the play on balls hit back through the box. Also practice 1-6-3 double plays.
How to Run This Drill
- Pitchers line up behind the mound with first basemen at their positions.
- First pitcher throws a pitch from the mound to the catcher.
- After the pitch crosses the plate, coach hits or rolls a ball back to the pitcher.
- Pitcher fields the ball, steps toward first base, and makes an accurate throw.
- Follow the throw, but not as exaggerated as an infielder would.
- Mix in double play situations (1-6-3) to practice turning two as well as based loaded scenarios
