Nice view of the Schuylkill River area. My kids go here to play soccer sometimes. It's great that the field is usually open unlike the fields at other parks in the city which are often locked up. The name of the field is actually Schuylkill Pocket Veterans Memorial Field.

The Schuylkill Pocket Veterans Memorial Field is a poignant landmark in Philadelphia’s Fitler Square, dedicated to honoring the local heroes who served their country with pride. This memorial field is not just a testament to the past; it’s a living, breathing space where the community gathers to play baseball and soccer, enjoying the freedom those veterans fought to protect. With its location at the intersection of Taney Street and Pine Street, the field also serves as a reminder of the area’s rich history, from its days as a shanty town for Irish immigrants to its current status as a cherished urban green space.

Not too much traffic, very peaceful, good people. Laid on the grass under a tree with a glass of lemonade and a delectable meal from Burg's.. A wonderfully relaxing afternoon watching baseball and interacting with nature :-)
