I've played in this league for the last 10 years and I can say this is easily the best co-ed slowpitch softball league in Philadelphia, but best of all, it's not just a softball league. This league literally travels the world to grow the game. Seriously, how many rec sports leagues out there raise tens of thousands of dollars, collect hundreds of pounds of donated equipment, and invite players to travel to places like Sierra Leone and Belize to run clinics and help teach kids how to play the game? The answer is none. The league is run by a husband and wife team who give every ounce of themselves to the league and are accommodating to everyone and make their experience in the league as enjoyable as possible. The vast majority of the players in the league are really nice and kind people who love the game and support one another. Some of my teammates have become close friends. I have absolutely loved every minute I have spent on their field. I have recently moved to Maryland but I still am traveling back to Philly whenever I can to play. It's that good of a league. Oh, and if you are a parent like me, the league is very family friendly (aka bring the kids), especially during the Sunday daytime league. and there is a playground beyond the center field fence that my 5 year old enjoys. I love this league and you will too.

What a beautiful, loving community these folks have built. I got invited to join a team this year and had zero expectations—I’d played college baseball, but never anything like a co-ed softball league. I can’t say enough good things about how welcoming everyone has been, how much fun it’s been to get to know and play with a bunch of folks who are there to have fun (and not to relive their glory days), and what a special thing this is. I hope they’ll eventually expand into other parts of the city.

TLDR: an awesome softball league to play in and be involved with. Strictly focusing on the softball, this is the best coed league in Philly. Their leagues are competitive, well organized and the value in terms of cost per game is unmatched. They also go above and beyond to make the league even better by doing things such as helping to find subs (avoiding forfeits), cleaning/maintaining the field, organizing an all star game, and hosting end of season/year award parties. They also do so many positive things off the softball field, it would be hard to even cover them all between service trips, free camps for kids, and other community partnerships/initiatives. It’s certainly a league to feel good and proud to be a part of. Above and beyond all of the above, I also wanted to highlight what the league’s inclusive environment has meant to me personally. Sports and everything that comes along with it (teaming, competition, camaraderie, adversity) have always been a big part of my life. Me feeling comfortable and safe in sporting environments has not usually been my experience. The league has strong policies in place, which they’ve also demonstrated that they will enforce when required, to provide an atmosphere for everyone participating to have an expectation of appropriate behavior and minimum level of respect from fellow participants. This manifests itself in most people making friends beyond their own teammates and people genuinely having personal and professional opportunities to grow. I’m my experience, this is what truly differentiates PALS from anyone else and genuinely makes it not only fun but also an important and impactful experience for many. And the few people that haven’t respected the league’s policies and valued this environment, have mostly left and are the only people that I have ever seen criticize the league (including through Google reviews). To see that is as frustrating as it is hurtful to me. The sad reality is the league can’t appeal to everyone and won’t compromise their values and beliefs of what a great softball league should be. And for that I’m especially thankful and lucky to have the opportunity to be part of the league.

My favorite sports league ... easily! Have made so many great friends and connections through PALS. The league organizers care about the people that participant and make sure, every week, that you're having a great experience. If you want to play in a league that is competitive but also fosters a positive vibe of community - there's no better place to play.
