Infield Drill: Shuffle Step Around (Baseball & Softball)
Agility drill using cones to teach proper shuffle steps and body positioning for infielders. Develops lateral movement without crossing feet.

How to Run This Drill
- Set up 5-6 cones in a zigzag pattern about 8 feet apart.
- Player starts in athletic fielding position at the first cone - knees bent, weight on balls of feet, glove out front.
- On the whistle, player shuffle steps laterally to the next cone while maintaining low, athletic position.
- At each cone, player changes direction and shuffles to the next cone. Never cross your feet during shuffles.
- Keep the glove out front and eyes up throughout the drill as if tracking a ground ball.
- Complete the course 2-3 times, then switch directions so players work both sides equally.
Coaching Points
- Stay low in athletic position throughout - no standing up between cones
- Shuffle steps only - never cross your feet over
- Keep glove out front and ready as if fielding
- Push off the outside foot to change direction
- Eyes up and head steady - no bobbing
- Practice both directions equally
