Catching Drill: Catcher Pop Time Drills (Baseball & Softball)
Develop sub-2.0 second pop times through proper footwork, quick transfers, and accurate throws to second base.

How to Run This Drill
- Catcher sets up in proper receiving stance behind the plate. Pitcher or coach throws pitches.
- As the pitch arrives, catcher receives it and immediately begins the transfer.
- Right foot replaces left foot position as the ball hits the glove - this generates momentum toward second.
- Transfer the ball near the right ear and throw on a line to second base.
- Coach times from pitch hitting the glove to the ball reaching second base.
- Goal for high school and above: under 2.0 seconds. Track times and work to improve.
