Throwing Drill: How to Throw a Baseball - Baseball Throwing Mechanics (Baseball)

Comprehensive breakdown of proper baseball throwing mechanics from grip to release. Master the fundamental techniques that create accurate, powerful throws.

Instructions

Step 1: Grip - Teach proper four-seam grip with fingers across seams, comfortable spacing. Step 2: Stance - Feet shoulder-width apart, facing target with sideways body alignment. Step 3: Separation - Show glove and throwing hand separation at chest level. Step 4: Arm Path - Demonstrate proper arm action with elbow at shoulder height, creating proper L-position. Step 5: Stride - Step toward target with front foot, maintaining balance and direction. Step 6: Hip & Shoulder Rotation - Rotate hips first, then shoulders, creating kinetic chain. Step 7: Release - Release ball out in front with wrist snap, fingers pointing to target. Step 8: Follow Through - Complete throw with throwing arm finishing across body, back leg coming forward. Practice each component slowly before combining into fluid motion.
