Fielding Drill: Short Hop Drill (Baseball & Softball)
Teaches players to be comfortable catching ground balls on short hops. Done with two lines on knees about 20 feet apart, emphasizing two-hand catches without turning head.
Instructions
Set up two lines about 20 feet apart with players on knees. Line with ball throws to other line on one bounce. Emphasize catching with two hands and not turning head. Challenge: try to hit partner's cap placed in front of them.
